Sunrise Music

If you love music, you will love Aspen, Colorado, in the summer! Not only is the mountain scenery gorgeous, you will hear students from the Aspen Summer School of Music playing everywhere you go in Aspen.

We heard the dress rehearsal of  Mahler’s  Symphony No. 3 in D minor with the most wonderful section of double basses shown in the picture.

Downtown Aspen’s Paradise Bakery is a good spot to hear everything from classical to pop music.  Check out the video of the Maroon Bells string quartet playing “Let It Go” from Frozen in front of the bakery.  On top of Aspen Mountain was a great Bluegrass band Sunday afternoon.  Even drummers love to entertain the crowd on plastic pails!  Got rhythm?  Try it for yourself!  Buy drumsticks from Amazon and try different pails which have different pitches.  Try several sizes to get the combination of sound you like.

Make Aspen a music destination during the summer, where you can hear free music around town, as well as pay for more formal concerts and master classes.  You will come home inspired for the wonderful gift of music, all styles of music, as well remembering the beautiful invigorating mountains of Aspen!
